My take on the book:
James, a Wall Street investment banker suffers a major setback when he attempts to venture into new area, suffers a major mishap during the launch. His ex-girlfriend backstabs at this sensitive stage, he is in major soup while undergoing treatment for major injuries. The next thing we know James lands at the foothills of Himalayas attending the discourse of a Guru in India. As James tries to make sense of the teachings of this enigmatic Guru, how will this make James an enhanced version forms the rest of the story.
This is a self-help book that smartly conveys the message through fictional characters. The conversational style of information exchange between the Guru and his audience makes the content of the book interesting. The seven layers of the human engineering which is abbreviated as ROYGBIV which is the reverse for the rainbow colors we know as VIBGYOR, is an interesting concept explained by the author. The ABCD therapy of life — Awareness, Breathing, Choices and Discipline and how these can be the solution for any life issue when followed meticulously is also explained well by the author.
Though I have read couple of self-help and spirituality books, I really liked this book for few reasons — the easy language, the examples used to simplify and explain even complex concepts so that the reader can relate easily, the segregation of these concepts into separate chapters- makes reading the book very effortless. Within a few pages the reader will be pulled into the narration and the author builds the intrigue wonderfully as the reader will keep turning the page.
The book highlights how living is important, while we all are lost trying to make a living. If you like exploring fresh story writing styles and books that help individuals to grow, without being overwhelming, then this is for you.
My rating:
